Panoramic view of Santorini caldera and villages

Santorini 3-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Fira and the caldera walk

Settle in and walk part of the caldera path connecting Fira to Imerovigli, then continue on toward Oia if you have the energy, or save the full walk for another day. Watch sunset from Imerovigli or Fira itself to avoid Oia's biggest crowds on your first evening.

Day 2: Oia and the sunset

Spend the day exploring Oia's blue-domed streets and shops, then claim a sunset viewpoint or restaurant reservation well before golden hour — see our full Oia sunset guide for timing.

Day 3: Boat tour or beach day

Choose between a boat tour out to the volcano and hot springs, or a day at Perissa, Kamari, or Red Beach — both are full-day activities that don't combine well together given travel time between sites.

With a fourth day

Add a wine tasting near Pyrgos, a visit to the Akrotiri excavation site, or simply a slower, unscheduled day revisiting whichever village caught your attention most.

Adjusting the pace

Families or travelers who prefer not to rush should stretch this into four days rather than three — Santorini's steep terrain and heat make back-to-back full days more tiring than the itinerary length alone suggests.

Booking priorities

Lock in your boat tour and any sunset dinner reservation as soon as your dates are fixed — these two bottlenecks are more likely than accommodation to force a schedule change if left too late.

Traveling with limited mobility

The steps and steep, uneven streets throughout Fira and Oia are worth factoring in for anyone with mobility limitations — a car-based itinerary focused on beach towns may suit better than the caldera-village-heavy plan above.

Evening options beyond dinner

Fira's bars along the caldera edge stay lively well past sunset, offering an alternative to an early night if you'd rather extend the evening than turn in after dinner.
